This a breakthrough acne treatment that combines a gentle vacuum with pulses of specially filtered light to help clear your pores and treat outbreaks. It is approved by the FDA to treat a wide range of acne in all skin types, and most people feel little to no discomfort during the treatment.

You may immediately notice that your skin is drier, is less oily, and feels fresher. Acne outbreaks occurring at the time of the treatment session will usually begin to clear up over the next two days.

Typically, most people experience a mild, sunburn-like sensation, possibly accompanied by some minor swelling or bruising, for about two to 24 hours after the treatment. Depending on your individual condition, multiple treatments may be required to deliver ideal results. Dr. Germain will thoroughly go over the procedure, any side effects, and an overall treatment plan during your consultation.

Smoothbeam, Vbeam, and Gentle YAG

These lasers are not only designed for treating, but also to control acne breakouts–and can help to minimize scarring from past breakouts. Acne therapy is a gentle and safe way to target the overactive sebaceous activity in your skin, which is responsible for oil production.

VBeam Light Therapy for acne at Charleson's Germain Dermatology is effective and non-invasive.

VBeam Light combined with ALA (aminolevulinic acid) targets acne causing bacteria (P.Acne), while reducing the size of pores.

For treating acne in Charleston, SC, the Germain Dermatology team uses a combination therapy by applying ALA (aminolevulinic acid) to the skin which is then activated by VBeam® Light. This is a noninvasive procedure that kills the bacteria that cause pimples, rosacea, and more.

Most patients liken the feeling of these laser acne treatments to a mild stinging sensation, but discomfort is very mild and we do apply a topical numbing cream to increase comfort. A procedure is usually over in about 20 minutes.

*Patient results may vary.

Most patients experience redness and mild swelling after their acne treatment session. This may last for only a few hours. For more sensitive patients, swelling can last for several days. Makeup may be applied immediately after the procedure.

Shortly after the first acne treatment, you will start to see a reduction in active acne. In regards to the acne scars, results will be seen three months after your first treatment, since collagen production is key in smoothing out skin.

We recommend three initial treatments, four weeks apart. Depending on the level of your acne, additional treatments may be required.

Before, throughout, and after any laser acne treatment, patients must avoid sun exposure. A sunblock of SPF 30 or higher should be worn daily. If you have a history of fever blisters, please alert us prior to the procedure so that a prescription can be called in.
