GOT BUMPS ON THE BACK OF YOUR ARMS?

Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen a slight increase in the number of patients walking through our doors with reddish to brownish bumps on their backs, arms, shoulders and chest. At first glance it may look like an acne-like outbreak on areas other than the face, but a closer look identifies the real culprit, Keratosis pilaris.

There are actually a few different forms of Keratosis, and generally speaking, it’s a fairly common affliction particularly among those living in areas with consistently strong sun. If you or your spouse notices the unusual bumps, first try to moisturize the area every morning and night. If your regular lotion isn’t helping, we have a wide array of Germain Rx medicated lotions that will likely do the trick…just give us a call to set up a consultation and we’ll help you find exactly what you need.In some rare cases, one form of Keratosis can be dangerous and precancerous. If moisturizing for a few days doesn’t solve the problem, be sure to set up an appointment at 843-881-4440 so we can diagnose the situation early and set up a treatment plan. The treatment is non-invasive and effective, so don’t be afraid to pick up the phone if you sense you need our help!

Also we will be open this Saturday for cosmetic appointments, we know you’re busy, which is why we try our hardest to make it convenient for you to see us.
